Gżira Mayor Conrad Borg Manché who was elected on the Labour Party ticket will be contesting the European Parliament elections as an independent candidate. Conrad Borg Manché distinguished himself by leading a local fight to preserve the public spaces in Manoel Island from a real-estate developer takeover. He broke ties with the Labour Party last year.

I don’t understand why he is contesting the European Parliament elections as an independent. He is going to split the third-party vote and is not going to get elected when he could surely have a good chance of getting re-elected as mayor.
