A Perfect Rent-Seeker’s Paradise

Glenn Micallef

Various top-profile Labour Party figures leaving their posts in Robert Abela’s current changing of the guard, are leaving with bags full and a wrecked political legacy behind them. This can’t be a more ideal arrangement for Labour Party figures who fail in their public mission: they get to leave their posts richer and without paying any political or economic consequence whatsoever.

Daniel Micallef is leaving his post as Deputy Leader with the Labour Party turned into a criminal organisation, divided and torn between different factions, depleted of its intellectuals, and with no ideological and political essence left other than reactionary populism. On the other hand, while all this happened, Daniel Micallef built a successful architecture firm with the great aid of the government, of course. The party can continue to decay while his business grows.

On the other hand, there’s Glenn Micallef who is basically, even being promoted upstairs to Brussels. He thinks, however, that all those years of comfortable political appointments at a top salary level in the public service, was a great sacrifice for him. Sourced from Lovin Malta.
