Daniel Attard is the new Labour Party MEP along with Thomas Bajada. He has conducted his campaign for the European Parliament based on his defense of Joseph Muscat as he attacked journalists, critics, the Judiciary and the Opposition. He also encouraged the Police to take action on Joseph Muscat’s critics, and of course, was also endorsed by Joseph and Michelle Muscat.
Daniel Attard was simultaneously Mtarfa Mayor and an employee based in London with Malta’s High Commission. He became popular with the Labour mob when he was seen holding an umbrella for his employer and Minister for the Economy Chris Cardona in those tumultuous closing days of 2019. Ever since then, he has achieved a reputation among Labour Party supporters for his unwavering loyalty.
This is also how he got elected: by addressing the worst elements of the Labour Party and using its most fascistic and authoritarian forms of propaganda and diatribes. Basically, he is playing the script of the loyal child, defending the Party and its associates at all costs, even if that means selling one’s soul to the devil or supporting fascism.
Yet, this his choice and now he has to stick with it throughout the rest of his life. He is a proponent and a supporter of organised crime, an apologist for corruption, and a supporter of censorship and authoritarian restrictions on free speech. He’s basically a fascist who is ready to apologise for any wrongdoing for the sake of his position and political career. In a very similar way he is like Alex Agius Saliba.
Now, Daniel Attard is stuck with this script for the rest of his life, and there is no going back from it. No decent person can trust him to do the right thing. As a yapping dog, he may do well, but he can achieve nothing more than that in his life. If Labour reforms itself and the whole leadership changes, Daniel Attard will become just another Josianne Cutajar: an undesired legacy of the dark and criminal history of Labour’s past.
