Carles Puigdemont the Russian collaborator

Carles Puigdemont

Carles Puigdemont is the Spanish fugitive and previous Catalan politician who led an unconstitutional campaign against the state of Spain for Catalonian independence. Catalonian independence is one of those causes in Europe that has as much merit as the revival of the Esperanto language, but Spain had to seriously contend with a political group that literally tried to break away the region from the Spanish state.

Carles Puigdemont had to flee to Belgium (the only EU state that gives political protection to foreign EU nationals) after his bid for independence with an illegal referendum failed and the Spanish courts issued arrest warrants for him and his associates for crimes against the state. Now, in order to form a government, Pedro Sanchez is giving an amnesty to Puigdemont and his associates in exchange for his party’s support to form a coalition government. Sanchez’ political decision has sparked outrage in Spain leading to protests across the country including protests by the judiciary who are protesting against Sanchez’s total disregard for the constitution and the rule of law.

Amnesties are usually necessary for a peace arrangement, but this is not a peace agreement and Puigdemont is not giving up his dreams of breaking up Spain in two – this is simply an arrangement for power.

What’s going on in Spain right now is wilder than what it seems. Puigdemont not only tried to break Spain in two, but he and his associates also sought help from the Russians, specifically from Russian government and military personnel connected to the Kremlin with whom they discussed financial and even military support for the struggle for Catalonian independence. Puigdemont and his associates believe that Catalonian independence is the most important cause and mission they uphold and their loyalties are to their cause and not the Spanish state, so this is why they find nothing immoral in seeking the help of Europe’s own enemies to further their cause. This is just another form of fascism – when your nationalistic aspirations override all morality and any other political consideration.

The left in Europe is applauding Sanchez for taking power at the expense of the far-right party Vox, yet Sanchez is governing with lunatics who are by far even more fascistic and dangerous than Vox. Here is a European who conspired against his European state with the aid and support of Russia and instead of being tried for crimes against the state, he is being rewarded by being given immunity and even power.

  1. Very interesting. Also, former Prime Minister of Latvia Valdis Dombrovskis was caught accepting a 6-mln-euro bribe from a shady source (probably Russia) for trying to cause full-scale war in Catalonia. Dombrovskis isn’t in exile for this. Dombrovskis got promoted to European Commission Executive Vice President! Funny the opposite treatment Puigdemont and Dombrovskis are getting.
