Kazakhstan to increase oil sales to Germany and adopt Russian sanctions

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has just announced, while on a trip to Germany, that Kazakhstan is to increase oil sales to Germany and adopt EU and US-imposed trade and economic sanctions on Russia.

Germany gets this right by building friendships and striking trade deals with up-and-coming emerging democracies and liberal states. Too much focus and ingratiation has been exerted towards China when Europe can look elsewhere while achieving even greater gains both in economic terms and also in terms of contributing to the the international rules-based order.

Forget about BRICS.
