Now, we have an Acting Prime Minister

Coincidentally, soon after I uploaded my post about Robert Abela leaving the Islands for Greece on holiday without appointing an Acting Prime Minister, a notice of the appointment was issued.

It is also surprising that Robert Abela is appointing his Deputy-Prime Minister, Chris Ferne as Acting Prime Minister as previously Robert Abela used to prefer to appoint no one as Acting Prime Minister given that he doesn’t even trust his own deputy. The Prime Minister has a constitutional obligation to appoint an Acting Prime Minister whenever he is abroad and this is necessary so that the government’s executive functions continue unhindered.
