Anyone can be an ambassador

Anyone can be an ambassador, as long as you are friends with Robert Abela that is. This is Kenneth Vella, a headmaster who has been made Malta’s ambassador to Estonia and Finland. He is simply a headmaster with a radio programme on the public broadcaster (apparently he also doubles as a journalist because he has many distinct skills), but surely, he is better than all of the members of the diplomatic community who actually have degrees and experience working in international relations. One of Kenneth Vella’s passions is horse racing – not the real one, but the fake one where the horse pulls the rider on a cart. He is also very close to Education Minister Clifton Grima.
