The authors’ royalties tax deduction gimmick

Just a note that the authors’ royalties tax deduction to 7.5% doesn’t really affect authors since royalties in Malta are counted in hundreds of Euros if at all.

The proposal originated during my time as Chairman of the Book Council when I proposed to reduce the income tax to authors living in Malta to 0. This would have attracted foreign authors to live in Malta as well.

It wasn’t taken onboard. Instead, they did the royalties thing which is completely insignificant.
