European Laws are not written by MEPs

A gentle reminder to the press and the general public, that despite what they tell you, MEPs don’t actually propose or either write European Union laws – they just mediate them and edit them, before they are mediated and edited again.

“What I promised, I delivered,” Alex Agius Saliba said to his supporters on Facebook as he made the European Union directive on mobile chargers his own.

What did you deliver, Alex? Europe needs you to solve our problems. Deliver us from evil.

The law was written by the EU Commission for digital technology run by the Executive Vice-President of the EU, Margrethe Vestager.
