At the UN General Assembly of 2018 Donald Trump made a speech where he warned Germany of total dependence on Russian gas for their energy. The German delegation, led by the Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and German ambassador Christoph Heusgen laughed at him directly and got the world’s attention for their confidence and cockiness.
Today Germany contends with the possible reality of not having enough gas for next Winter. Of course, you didn’t need to like Trump or agree with his politics to know that what he said was true. In fact, Germany’s situation is so ridiculously stupid that even Trump could point it out.
Christoph Heusgen still has an official role. He is the chairman of the Munich Security Conference. Incredible isn’t it? He’s going to bring a lot of security by laughing at himself, again.
